FAQs

What does Hades' Heavy Duty Mineral Descaler do?

Hades is a strong, acid-based cleaner that dissolves cement haze, efflorescence, mineral residues, limescale, and hard water stains. It is ideal for post-installation cleaning and for periodic descaling of acid-resistant surfaces where standard cleaners fall short.

What surfaces is Hades safe for?

Hades is suitable for cleaning ceramic tile, terracotta, and other acid-resistant surfaces. It should NOT be used on marble, limestone, travertine, terrazzo, or other acid-sensitive natural stone. Always conduct a preliminary test on an inconspicuous area first.

How do I dilute Hades for different surfaces?

Hades is a concentrate. For porous and absorbent materials such as terracotta, dilute 1 part product to 2 parts water. For compact, less absorbent materials such as ceramic tile, dilute 1 part product to 4 parts water.

How do I apply Hades?

Remove dust and debris with a broom or vacuum, protect surfaces not intended for treatment, and ensure grout and adhesive on new installations are fully cured. Wet the surface with water to prepare it. Apply the diluted solution evenly using a mop, sponge, spray bottle, or single-disc machine. Allow it to act for 10-15 minutes. Remove residues using a wet vacuum, and rinse thoroughly with clean water until the surface is fully residue-free. Repeat if necessary.

What is the container size?

Hades is supplied in a 32 fl oz (950 mL) bottle. Because Hades is a concentrate diluted with water at 1:2 (terracotta) or 1:4 (ceramic), the actual usable solution volume is substantially larger.

Where is Hades most useful?

Hades is especially effective in showers, bathrooms, kitchens, and pool waterlines — anywhere hard water repeatedly contacts tile. It is also widely used for post-installation cleanup to remove cement haze and efflorescence from newly installed acid-resistant tile.

Does Hades provide long-term protection?

No. Hades is designed for deep cleaning and residue removal, not long-term protection. For best results, use it regularly for maintenance and promptly clean spills to preserve surface quality. After descaling, plan to reseal porous tile and grout if needed.

Will Hades damage my grout, sealer, or metal fixtures?

Hades is acid-based. It can damage unsealed grout, colored grout, and existing sealers if used too aggressively or left too long on the surface — limit dwell time and rinse promptly. Avoid contact with chrome, brass, aluminum, and other metal fixtures, as acidic cleaners can etch or discolor metal finishes; cover or protect fixtures when descaling nearby tile and rinse any splashes off metal immediately.

What safety precautions should I take when using Hades?

Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, ideally with local aspiration. Wear protective gloves, eye protection, and face protection; use a respirator if ventilation is limited. Never mix Hades with bleach, ammonia, or other cleaning chemicals — dangerous fumes can result. Keep Hades away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources, and use non-sparking tools. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling, and always review the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before use.

How do I clean my tools and store leftover product?

Clean all application tools with water immediately after use. Store Hades in its original sealed container in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight, heat sources, open flames, sparks, and other ignition points.
